Scapa Healthcare's Hydrocolloid Technology Center - Orangeburg, New York
In-House R&D, Design and Manufacturing of Medical Hydrocolloid Adhesives for Advanced Wound Care, Ostomy, Consumer and Medical Device Fixation Markets
In 2016, Scapa Healthcare acquired EuroMed, Inc., a leading medical grade hydrocolloid adhesive developer and manufacturer located in Orangeburg, NY. The addition of hydrocolloid technology to Scapa's portfolio strengthened our skin-friendly adhesive offerings for both new and existing customers.
Orangeburg’s highly qualified research team works with customers to develop and formulate custom hydrocolloid solutions for specific applications. The team can perform R&D testing, rapid prototyping, hydrocolloid formulation, internal user trials, stability studies, and more. The site’s core manufacturing capabilities include ISO Class 8 clean room environment, hydrocolloid extrusion with custom equipment, converting, printing, packaging and sterilization management.
The proprietary hydrocolloid dressings developed in Orangeburg are offered as private label to global brands. These dressings are frequently used in hospitals to treat patients with chronic wounds and in-home care to manage colostomy and ileostomy stomas. Our hydrocolloid-based bandages are also increasingly growing in popularity within the consumer segment for everyday first aid -- mild burns, minor cuts; foot care -- blisters and corns; health & beauty aids; acne patches; and cold soar patches.
